Sue Lawson’s landscape painting is an extension of herself. Her present work feeds off direct contact with the subject and memories and evocations of long remembered visions, maybe unshared.

Sue’s work is made even more poignant as much of her childhood landscape has been swept away, giving her work a feel for the fleeting and impermanent. Despite her early conceptual experience, which can only be valuable, she has tapped into a deep vein within herself but rooted within a landscape tradition.

Sue is a painter to watch and one to give us hope; her feelings, emotions and ideas search for a creative freedom and surprisingly find them in a rural environment, I find that exciting.
